I really hate that word. Millennials. It’s so horrible. As a ‘millennial’ myself, it just rubs me the wrong way so often. The worst part is that in every day life I see it all the time. I’m emailed with articles about how to better target millennials; how we use technology, what our social habits are, and to be honest I find two things very bizarre about it all.
One of the interns at work told me a funny story today. She said she’d been for an interview for a Marketing Assistant role, but when she brought up social media, both of the interviewers expressed disgust. They told her they hated it and it wasn’t worth their time. She brought up Instagram as a great way they could connect with customers, but they said that, as a ‘premium’ brand, Instagram wasn’t the right avenue for them, as it would mainly be older people with money who seek to purchase their products.
What a bunch of fools.
Today I was asked to remove a tweet I had posted about my letting agents. In those 2 tweets, I complained about their customer service. In this day and age the first place millennials go to vent their frustration with brands is twitter. Needless to say, I didn’t really like being asked to remove the tweets.
